Shelters and blockhouses were destroyed by the Algerian People's National Army (ANP) in the provinces of Bouira and Bordj Bou Arreridj where equipment and weapons were also discovered, while smugglers were arrested in the region of In Guezzam (south), APS quoted on Saturday a statement of the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).
“Army's detachments discovered and destroyed 12 shelters and blockhouses, three kitchens, three generators, 20 hand-made bombs and grenades, two micro-laptops and other objects," the statement said.
The same source said a body in decomposition has been also found, adding that, "according to information gathered from an arrested terrorist, the body belongs to a wanted terrorist."
Moreover, and as part of border security and the fight against smuggling and organized crime, a detachment of the ANP under the operational sector of In Guezzam (6th Military Region) apprehended on the same day, 22 smugglers of different African nationalities and seized two automatic guns, 34 bullets and three metal detectors, added the ministry of defence.
"Similarly, another detachment seized one all-terrain vehicle loaded with 1.7 tons of foodstuffs for smuggling," the same source said.
Also, "in the 4th Military Region, a detachment under the operational area of El Oued intercepted on Saturday during a reconnaissance patrol near the eastern border of the country, a smuggler and seized one all-terrain vehicle loaded with 2,000 mobile phones of various brands," added the source.
