Rafael Nadal announced Thursday his withdrawal from Wimbledon due to the wrist injury that forced him out of the French Open, Nadal said on his Facebook page.
He was beginning a surge on the clay, winning titles in Barcelona and Monte-Carlo, but after injuring his left wrist in Madrid and playing through the pain in Rome, he had to withdrawal at French Open after two rounds.
Nadal had already pulled out of next week's Wimbledon grass-court warm-up at Queen's Club. Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the year, starts on June 27. The 14-time Grand Slam title winner won Wimbledon in 2008 and 2010. He was runner-up in 2006, 2007 and 2011.
