Yves Saint Laurent Beauty has presented the latest olfactory variation on one of its signature men's fragrances: Kouros. Called Kouros Silver, the new scent is characterized by a burst of cool notes that contrast with the animal notes of the original.
Now a reference in the world of masculine scents, Kouros was first introduced in 1981 as an olfactory incarnation of the male nude figures of ancient Greek art. Since then, Yves Saint Laurent has presented several variations, including Body Kouros in 2000 and, more recently, Kouros Eau de Toilette Tonique.
A contemporary legend
With this new version, Yves Saint Laurent aims to modernize the sensual man represented by its legendary fragrance. Between power, virility and style, the new Kouros man has a more contemporary identity, which is reflected both in the perfume's ingredients and in the design of the new flacon.
Developed for summer, the new fragrance is cooler than the original. Noses Michel Girard and Olivier Pescheux chose an apple accord accented with sage and underscored by sensual wood and amber base notes.
"The olfactory development of Kouros Silver reflects the evolution of men's perfume. Once all about 'hygiene,' it is now multifaceted: coolness, power, sensuality," explain the perfumers. "The challenge was respecting the original perfume's sensual and powerful identity while adding innovation and a modern vision in line with the expectations of today's men."
