Tunis - MENA
Tunisian President Béji Caid Essebsi received on Thursday a delegation representing the three monotheistic religions, Islam, Christianity and Judaism led by Polish-born French writer Marek Halter, state-run TAP news agency reported.
"The delegation came to express solidarity with Tunisia, a country that has shown that Islam and democracy are not incompatible," Halter said at the end of his meeting with the president.
Perpetrators of terrorist attacks "do not represent Islam," the writer pointed out, adding that “we are here to show you that we stand by you."
The president hailed this solidarity visit at this painful time following the terrorist attack on the Bardo Museum, which represents one of the greatest monuments in the Tunisian culture and in the world civilization.
