HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), will patronize the official opening of the new Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS) Building on Friday and the new QFIS mosque at Education City, where guests will perform midday prayer.
This was announced in a press conference at QFIS premises today, addressed by Dean of QFIS Dr Aisha Al-Mannai.
Dr Al Mannai said that the faculty began since 2007 as an ambitious idea of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, who wanted to establish a center for Islamic studies that offers a moderate and ambitious image of Islam. QFIS started offering an exclusive range of high value programs in graduate studies.
There is an ongoing assessment of these programs to developed and updated them in line with the requirements of the era while maintaining the values and constants where the college began a series of programs in contemporary Fiqh and Public Policy in Islam.
The new building will provide a new home for QFIS and will also accommodate the Education City campus mosque.
Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies, a college of Hamad Bin Khalifa University which is a member of Qatar Foundation, supports QF’s mission to foster a progressive society while enhancing cultural life by emphasizing the richness and diversity of Islamic heritage.
